Selcuk Baktir

Dr. Selçuk Baktir is an associate professor in the Computer Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait and a senior member in IEEE. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Bilkent University, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. His industry experience includes roles at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center and Intel Corporation. He founded the M.Sc. cybersecurity program at Bahçeşehir University, İstanbul, and was a visiting researcher at Ruhr University Bochum. His research interests include applied cryptography and computer security. He has received the IBM Research Pat Goldberg Memorial Best Paper Award (2007), the EU FP7 Marie Curie IRG Award (2010), and the TUBITAK Career Award (2016).

Selma Kurtishi-Kastrati

Dr. Selma Kurtishi-Kastrati is an associate professor and head of the Human Resource Management Department at the College of Business Administration, American University of the Middle East, (AUM), Kuwait. She has over 20 years of academic experience and has taught a wide range of Business and Management courses. Dr. Kurtishi-Kastrati has contributed extensively to scholarly research with publications in high-impact journals, presenting at several international conferences and contributing chapters to academic books. Her research interests include Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability.

Semaan Amine

Dr. Semaan Amine is an associate professor of mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France, and brings over a decade of academic experience. His areas of expertise include parallel robots, mechanism theory, mechanical design, and AI-driven control. Dr. Amine has taught at Beirut Arab University, Notre Dame University, and the American University of Science and Technology, delivering undergraduate and graduate courses in robotics, control, and mechanical systems. He has authored numerous papers in international journals and conferences, and actively participates in ABET accreditation, academic committees, and research supervision. He is a member of ASME and is committed to advancing engineering education and research in robotics and mechanical design.

Sercan Saglam

Dr. Sercan Saglam has been an Assistant Professor at the American University of the Middle East since 2021. He teaches first-year writing courses and research methods, with his work greatly informed by his background as a language instructor and teacher trainer. An active researcher, Dr. Saglam has published in areas such as educational technology, language pedagogy, and teacher development, and is dedicated to advancing teaching practices and student learning.

Serdar Ozkan

Dr. Serdar Ozkan is a professor of accounting and head of the Accounting Department at the College of Business Administration, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, where he has served since 2016. With over 20 years of academic and professional experience in Turkey and Kuwait, he teaches financial reporting, auditing, and accounting theory across undergraduate, MBA, and PhD levels.

His research focuses on IFRS, audit quality, ethics, and corporate governance, with publications in journals such as Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. He has advised firms on IFRS implementation and strategic accounting practices and previously served as an advisor to TURMOB (The Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants of Turkey) and as academic advisor to the Developing Nations Committee of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Shahnawaz Muhammed

Dr. Shahnawaz Muhammed is a professor of management information systems and operations management at the College of Business Administration, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. His research interests include knowledge management, knowledge representation, supply chain management, and cryptocurrencies. He has published in leading journals such as the Journal of Knowledge Management, Journal of Cleaner Production, Journal of Innovation & Knowledge, Information Technology & People, Knowledge Management Research and Practice, and Management Decision, and has presented at many international conferences. Prior to his current position, he taught at Fayetteville State University, USA, and has held several senior-level administrative positions at AUM. He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) by APICS, and is a member of the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).

Shalva Kikalishvili

Dr. Shalva Kikalishvili is an associate professor of History in the Liberal Arts Department, at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, with over a decade of experience in higher education and academic leadership. He earned his Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary History from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Georgia. His areas of specialization include global history, conflict studies, political science, education, and technologies. Dr. Kikalishvili has led faculty induction processes, performance evaluations, and on-campus interviews. A published researcher in Scopus-indexed journals, he is passionate about interdisciplinary approaches to historical study and student development.

Shehroz Khan

Dr. Shehroz Khan is an assistant professor in the Department of Information Systems and Technology at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Toronto, Canada. Prior to joining AUM, he served as a scientist and assistant professor at the University Health Network and the University of Toronto. His research focuses on developing machine learning and deep learning algorithms for applications in aging, rehabilitation, and intelligent assisted living. Dr. Khan has authored over 125 publications, which have received more than 6,500 citations.

Sherif Said

Dr. Sherif Said is an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, and serves as the team leader of the AUM Robotics Center. He holds a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Université Paris-Est Créteil, France, a Master’s in mechatronics engineering from Ain Shams University, and a Bachelor’s degree from October 6 University, Egypt. Dr. Said specializes in robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, and biomedical systems. He has played an instrumental role in the establishment and expansion of the AUM Robotics Center and its various specialized units. He also led the successful organization of the Robotex competition for schools across Kuwait and for AUM students. Dr. Said has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications and led student teams to international success in VEX and Robotex competitions. His work emphasizes innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

Shinu Mathew

Shinu Mathew is a senior lab instructor and Robotics Center coordinator at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University, India, a master’s in the same field from Karunya University, and a second master’s in Information Technology from the University of the West of England, UK. His research focuses on machine learning with a focus on applied AI systems. He is skilled in C programming, Arduino, Python, ROS, SQL, MySQL, and network configuration. His academic and professional pursuits are centered on integrating emerging technologies into education and fostering hands-on learning in robotics and intelligent systems.
