Sandy El-Hakim is a laboratory instructor in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a master’s degree in genomics and health from the Lebanese University and brings extensive experience in academic instruction, laboratory management, and biomedical research.

Prior to joining AUM, she taught various laboratory courses at the Lebanese University, including biology, molecular genetics, histology, and biochemistry, and contributed to curriculum development and student engagement.

Her research interests focus on cancer biology and telomere dynamics. She has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and has technical expertise in DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, flow cytometry, and cell culture techniques. She is multilingual and proficient in laboratory software and data analysis tools.

Sara Al-Sharif is a senior lab instructor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. Sara is a passionate educator with over 10 years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor's degree in the field of "Industrial and Management Systems Engineering", and a Master's degree in "Engineering Management". She is enthusiastic about research in the fields of ergonomics and sustainability. Her recent contribution to the field is presented as being co-author to the paper "Determining Optimum Level of Automation in Task Design for Assembly Line Systems" published in journal of the HCI International 2020. She is committed to student-centered learning and bridging theory with real-world application.

Sara Mahmoud

Sara Mahmoud is a senior laboratory instructor in the Department of Computer Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait.

She holds both a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from Kuwait University, specializing in Computer Hardware. With over 15 years of academic experience, she has taught a wide range of computer engineering laboratory courses, including C++, Python, Operating Systems, Microprocessors, Digital Logic, Computer Architecture, ASIC, Linear Circuits, and Electronics.

Her academic interests include Green Computing, Software Engineering, and Computer Architecture.

Sarah El-Kadri

Dr. Sarah El Kadri is an assistant professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering & Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She has a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from Grenoble Alpes University, specializing in Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA). Her research focuses on fault-based seismic hazard models, multi-fault ruptures, and time-dependent earthquake forecasting, with a particular emphasis on geohazards in the Middle East. She has over four years of experience in seismic hazard analysis, geotechnical investigations, and structural design. During her doctoral work at the Institut des Sciences de la Terre (ISTerre), she developed an advanced seismic hazard model for Lebanon and contributed to international collaborations assessing geohazards in Southeast Asia and France. Dr. El Kadri has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and presented at international conferences, earning the Student Presentation Award from the Seismological Society of America in 2022. Her broader interests include georisk mitigation, resilient infrastructure, and the integration of scientific research into engineering practice.

Sarah Mughneyah

Sarah Mughneyah is a senior laboratory instructor in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a master’s degree in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Environmental Science. Her doctoral research focused on the characterization of organic matter using thermochemolysis techniques coupled with GC/MS.

At AUM, she teaches Chemistry I and II labs for engineering students and Organic Chemistry I and II labs for chemical engineering majors. She has contributed to ABET accreditation processes and curriculum development. Her research interests include environmental analytical chemistry, geochemistry, and sustainable practices for environmental monitoring.

Sarp Erkir

Dr. Sarp Erkir is a Professor and Associate Dean of the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Dokuz Eylul University, Türkiye (2011), an M.A. in Teacher Education with a specialization in English from Bilkent University, Türkiye (2005), and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Hacettepe University, Türkiye (2003).

Dr. Sarp’s research interests include incorporating educational technologies into language teaching, integrating literature in the language classroom, and advancing curriculum design and development. His academic work is driven by a commitment to enhancing language learning through innovative pedagogical approaches that bridge theory and practice.

Sasa Duric

Dr. Sasa Duric is an associate professor of Sport and Exercise Science in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, with over a decade of experience in teaching, coaching and research. He holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology and has published more than 70 scientific articles, primarily in biomechanics, physical fitness and muscle function. At the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait, he serves as Chairman of the Learning and Development Committee and is a member of the LAD Exam Unit. He has also led curriculum development in sport management and team sports, bridging theory and practice in student learning. Dr. Duric is Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Kinesiologia Slovenica and Senior Associate Editor of the scientific journal SportLogia. He is an active peer reviewer for many esteemed international journals. His expertise has been featured in The New York Times, where he represented AUM in an expert interview. His research focuses on muscle function, body composition and exercise physiology, with a strong commitment to innovative, student-centered teaching.

Sayed Naqvi

Dr. Sayed Naqvi is the department chair and a professor of chemical engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Pakistan, where he graduated first in class and received a Gold Medal. He earned a master’s in environmentally sustainable process technology from Chalmers University of Technology, and both a Licentiate and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden. He also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Mälardalen University. Before joining AUM in 2021, he served as Associate Professor and Subject Representative at Karlstad University, Sweden. His research focuses on process optimization, renewable energy, and waste-to-energy systems aligned with the circular economy and UN Sustainable Development Goals. He has led 8 international projects in collaboration with industrial leaders such as Malarenergi, Eskilstuna Energi and Miljo. Dr. Naqvi has published over 130 peer-reviewed articles, 5 book chapters, and 25 conference papers, with more than 5,170 citations and an h-index of 40. He actively contributes to academic planning and sustainability-focused initiatives at AUM, integrating innovation and real-world application into both teaching and research.

Saziye Yaman

Dr. Saziye Yaman is an associate professor of English in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait, where she has been teaching various English academic writing and communication courses since 2015.

She served as the head of the Foundation Program at AUM for two years, overseeing curriculum planning, instructional quality, and teacher training. She later headed the AUM Writing Center, where she designed and facilitated academic seminars to enhance student learning and success. In her role, she delivered workshops and seminars on communication and academic writing for Capstone students, organized one-to-one tutoring sessions, and contributed to AUM's accreditation processes. Dr. Yaman previously taught various ELT, TEFL, and ESL courses in Turkey at the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. levels. She served as the ELT Program Chair at Mersin University for over 11 years, where she supervised M.A. and Ph.D. theses in ELT programs and led pedagogical certification programs. She also played a leading role in Erasmus student and academic exchange programs and contributed to Bologna and accreditation initiatives. Her research interests span TEFL and ESL theories, in-service teacher education, action research, reflective teaching, assessment and evaluation, and learning strategies.
