Dr. Mohamad Oueidat is an assistant professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering & Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Le Havre Normandy, France, where he studied granular heterogeneity and coarse soil erosion.

His earlier experience includes project management work with EDF France on nuclear safety assessment. His academic and research interests include geotechnical engineering, hydraulic behavior of soils, and nuclear safety. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented internationally. Dr. Oueidat integrates his research into student-focused teaching and curriculum development.

Mohamed Abouelela

Dr. Mohamed Abouelela is an associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) from KU Leuven, Belgium, and his M.Sc. from Zagazig University, Egypt.

Dr. Abouelela specializes in mechanical design, automation, and machine control. He has been instrumental in enhancing the quality of teaching at AUM across a wide range of mechanical engineering courses, including Machine Design, Introduction to Mechanical Design, and Graphical Communication & Spatial Analysis. He has also contributed to courses in other departments, applying innovative assessment tools and developing comprehensive lab manuals. His research focuses on renewable energy, and he recently secured a Kuwaiti patent for an "Integrated Sustainable Water Recycling and Green Hydrogen Production System Utilizing Renewable Energy." He also won third place at an international conference for the sustainable design of a wastewater treatment system for the Kuwait Oil Industry. Dr. Abouelela actively advises the Renewable Energy & Machine Master Clubs, encouraging student participation in competitions. His contributions include a US patent and a "Best Paper" award, underscoring his commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Mohamed Fayed

Mechanical Engineering


Dr. Mohamed Fayed is an associate professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, where he has served since 2015. He earned his Ph.D. from Concordia University, Canada, in 2009, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship and research associate position. Prior to joining AUM, he held appointments at Alexandria University (Egypt) and Concordia University.

At AUM, Dr. Fayed has contributed extensively to teaching, research, and institutional service. He developed and coordinated multiple new courses in mechanical engineering. His research includes more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and six international conferences under AUM affiliation, along with two registered patents (US and European). He has actively served on departmental and college-level committees, including as Head of the Program ABET Assessment Committee and member of the Thermo-Fluid Focus Group and Projects & Academic Activities Committee.

Mohamed Sraieb

Dr. Mohamed Sraieb is an associate professor of economics at the College of Business Administration, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics (ECARES), Belgium. He also earned an MSc in Statistics from ECARES and an MSc in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the University of Tunis.

Prior to joining AUM, Dr. Sraieb served as an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Essex, UK. He is an applied economist with strong expertise in macroeconomics, finance, and econometrics. His research is multidisciplinary, with particular interest in the foundations of development policies. He conducts research at both AUM and ECARES, where he is also an associate fellow.

Mohammad Abiad

Dr. Mohammad Abiad is an assistant professor and chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the College of Business Administration, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics/ Statistics in Industrial Engineering from the University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania.

His areas of specialization include applied statistics, clustering, and optimization, with a focus on business decision-making and educational improvement. Dr. Abiad has published extensively in peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals and integrates research insights into both teaching and curriculum development.

His pedagogical approach emphasizes data-driven problem-solving to strengthen both conceptual understanding and real-world analytical skills. As department chair, he leads academic planning, curriculum enhancement, and faculty mentoring, contributing to academic excellence and institutional development. His current research interests include lifetime distributions, faculty performance evaluation systems, and AI applications in education and analytics.

Mohammad Al-Abed

Dr. Mohammad Al-Abed is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology and both M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Dr. Al-Abed’s research interests include renewable energy systems, biomedical signal processing, and artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. He has led multiple interdisciplinary research projects and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals. His academic leadership experience includes serving as Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Hashemite University and Director of the Center for Renewable Energy.

He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and was recognized with the IEEE Global Outstanding Branch Counselor Award in 2021. Dr. Al-Abed’s academic contributions reflect a commitment to innovative research, sustainable technology development, and student mentorship in the fields of intelligent systems and energy.

Mohammad Al-Afnan

Dr. Mohammad Al-Afnan is an associate professor of applied linguistics and business communication in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East, Kuwait. He previously served as team leader of the English and Communication Department. Dr. Al-Afnan earned his Ph.D. from University Utara, Malaysia and completed postgraduate studies (M.A. and GC) at Western Sydney University, Australia. With over 50 publications indexed in Google Scholar and Scopus, his research spans critical discourse analysis, AI in education, teaching and learning, and business writing. He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses and moderated master’s projects and PhD dissertations.

Mohammad Al-khalaf

Mohammad Al-khalaf is an architect, designer, and researcher, currently a lab instructor in the Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM) in Kuwait.

He holds a Master of Architecture (M.Arch.) in Architecture and Theory of Design and a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) from Middle East Technical University (METU), Turkey.

Mohammad has gained diverse professional and academic experience in architecture including roles as technical architect, design architect, interior designer, and research assistant. His academic interests focus on urban architecture, participatory design, architecture and politics, socio-cultural spatial representation, and public spaces.

He has contributed to academic publications and conferences, including the article "Evaluating the Role of Participation in Different Design Phases for More Inclusive Housing," the book chapter "Rethinking Design Through (Re)Investigating Participatory Design," and a conference presentation on "Sustainable, Decent, Affordable Housing and Living Environments." In 2023, he published his master’s thesis, "Towards an Inclusive Theory in Participation in Architecture and Urbanism."

Mohammad is a member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE) and the Chamber of Architects (Mimarlar Odası) in Ankara, Turkey.

Mohammad Al-Rabayah

Dr. Mohammad Al-Rabayah is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in telecommunications from the University of New South Wales, Australia, along with a bachelor’s degree in communications and electronics engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Al-Rabayah’s academic and professional journey spans Australia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. His research focuses on wireless communications, ad hoc and vehicular networks, cryptography, and network security. He has published widely in international journals and conferences and played a key role in both international (ABET) and national accreditation processes.

At AUM, Dr. Al-Rabayah has taught a broad range of electrical engineering courses and supervised numerous senior design projects. His current research interests include cooperative wireless networks, differential beamforming, and secure communication systems. He is widely recognized for integrating real-world applications into both his teaching and mentoring practices.

Mohammad Alattar

Mohammad Alattar is a laboratory instructor in the Architectural Engineering department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on Construction Engineering Management and Lighting Design, and a Master’s degree in Building Systems Engineering and Sustainable Building Design. A LEED Green Associate and Engineer in Training (FE Exam, USA), Mohammad’s research centers on building systems, sustainable design, and passive building strategies.
