Mehmet Karaman

Dr. Mehmet Karaman is an associate professor and head of the General Education Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM). He earned his Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and holds an M.A. in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

His areas of specialization include positive psychology, refugee mental health, achievement motivation, and resilience. He has taught and supervised undergraduate and graduate students across Türkiye, the U.S., and Kuwait. Dr. Mehmet has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and two edited books, with his research cited more than 1,400 times and an H-index of 16. He has held several academic leadership roles, including founding director of a university career center and serving on accreditation committees. His international research collaborations focus on Latinx, refugee, and youth populations. He also serves as an editorial board member and associate editor for several respected academic journals.

Melinda Oroszlanyova

Dr. Melinda Oroszlanyova is an associate professor in the Department of Statistics at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, and has served as department chair since 2024. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Porto, Portugal. Prior to joining AUM, she held roles at the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto in Portugal. Her research interests include data analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical computing. With a strong background in applied statistics, she has contributed to research across multiple disciplines, including medicine, social sciences, computer science, and environmental studies.

Mersad Dervic

Dr. Mersad Dervic is an assistant professor in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait. He earned his PhD in English Language and Literature from the International Burch University, where he previously served as a senior teaching assistant from 2018 to 2020. His doctoral research focused on the challenges faced by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in Bosnian high schools. He holds a BA in Human Sciences and an MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in the UK. His research interests include applied linguistics, language pedagogy, and the use of technology in language education. He has also undertaken interdisciplinary work related to broader educational issues. His recent publications have appeared in the Journal of Language and Education, Journal of Education Studies, and the Electronic Journal of Information Systems in Developing Countries.

Michel Alhosny

Dr. Michel Alhosny is an assistant professor at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a PhD in Human Pathology with a focus on infectious diseases from Aix-Marseille University, as well as an MSc in Medical Microbiology and a BSc in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Lebanese University. His academic background is complemented by extensive experience in microbiological research and clinical diagnostics. Dr. Alhosny has conducted in-depth studies on necrotizing enterocolitis and diabetic foot infections, with particular emphasis on microbial analysis, bacterial genomics, and toxin characterization. His research interests include host-pathogen interactions and the translational applications of genomic tools in infectious disease management. With a strong foundation in both laboratory science and applied research, he is committed to advancing diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for complex infections.

Michele Cedolin

Dr. Michele Cedolin is an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Galatasaray University and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Business Management. He has over 10 years of academic experience in teaching and research. His expertise lies in time series forecasting, computational intelligence, supply chain analytics, decision support systems, and multi-criteria decision-making to address complex operational problems in production, logistics, banking, energy, and healthcare systems. He has published in peer-reviewed international journals including IEEE Access, Kybernetes, and the Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering, and has presented at major international conferences such as IEEE, CoDIT and INFUS. His recent work focuses on forecasting under uncertainty, simulation-optimization frameworks, pharmaceutical distribution networks, bullwhip effect mitigation, and data-driven supply chain performance improvement. At AUM, he teaches Systems Simulation, Engineering Economics, Computing in Industrial Engineering, and Innovation-focused courses. He actively supervises graduation projects in AI applications, financial forecasting, energy demand prediction, and performance evaluation using DEA. He also contributes to ABET accreditation processes and student development initiatives. He is proficient in Python, R, MATLAB, SQL, GAMS, and Arena. He brings a multilingual and international perspective to his academic work, being fluent in English, Italian, Turkish, and French.

Mirvat Abdallah

Dr. Mirvat Abdallah is an associate professor of civil engineering and the quality assurance and accreditation coordinator at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a specialization in geotechnical engineering from the University of Lille 1, France, and the Lebanese University, and a Professional Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from the American University of Beirut (AUB). Dr. Abdallah is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a reviewer for the Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and an active member of professional organizations including ASCE and PMI. Her research interests span soil-structure interaction, slope stability, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence in civil engineering. With extensive experience in teaching, curriculum development, and ABET accreditation, she has contributed significantly to both academic and community service.

Mohamad Al-Hallak

Dr. Mohamad Al-Hallak is an assistant professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering & Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, a master’s in hydraulics and civil engineering, and a bachelor's in civil engineering.

His doctoral research addressed fungal contamination and indoor air quality, focusing on environmentally friendly mitigation strategies. His Master's research involved hydrological modeling of surface water flow. At AUM, he teaches core civil engineering courses and supervises final-year projects. His research spans indoor environmental health and hydraulic engineering.

Mohamad Ali-Ahmad

Dr. Mohamad Ali-Ahmad is an assistant professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering & Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nantes, France, with a research focus on the development of durable and low-carbon cementitious materials for marine environments. Educational background includes a Master’s in Civil Engineering – Materials and Structures – from École Centrale de Nantes and a Bachelor’s degree from Beirut Arab University. Specializes in concrete durability, hydration modeling, chloride-induced corrosion, and sustainable construction materials. Research experience spans both experimental and numerical methods, including X-ray tomography and permeability modeling. Contributed to international research projects such as “Innovative Binders for Offshore Floating Wind Turbines” and authored peer-reviewed publications in top journals. Actively involved in supervising student projects and presenting at international scientific conferences.

Mohamad Arnaout

Dr. Mohamad Arnaout is an associate professor of electrical and electronics engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait.

He holds a master’s degree in Micro and Nano Systems and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Toulouse, France. He has more than 11 years of academic teaching and leadership experience and served as Associate Chair of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department at the Lebanese International University (LIU).

Dr. Arnaout’s research interests include electrostatic discharge (ESD), electric machines, renewable energy, fault analysis, and smart diagnostics for electrical systems. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE (since 2013) and has been actively involved in professional service, notably as Chair of the IEEE Lebanon Joint Chapter, which received the IEEE PES and PELS Outstanding Best Chapter Award in 2024.

His recognitions include the Outstanding Researcher Award from LIU (2015), the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award from GEET Toulouse, and the Novela Award from the Municipality of Toulouse in both 2011 and 2012.

Mohamad Ibrahim

Dr. Mohamad Ibrahim is an assistant professor in the Architectural Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a Ph.D. in Energy Engineering from Mines Paris – PSL Research University, a Master of Engineering in Applied Energy (ME) from the American University of Beirut, and a bachelor degree from the Lebanese University.

His teaching and research focus on passive building design, HVAC performance simulation and optimization, sustainable low-carbon construction materials, and the hygrothermal performance of building envelopes.
