Greeshma Varghese is a senior lab instructor at the Department of Information Systems and Technology (IST) at the College of Engineering, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a master’s degree in computer science & engineering from Karunya University (India).

She has over eight years of academic experience, having taught undergraduate courses in Information Systems as well as Telecommunication and Networking. In addition to her academic background, she brings industry experience from her role as a Software Engineer in the IT sector.

Her research interests lie in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and she has published papers in Scopus-indexed journals along with contributions to a few book chapters. She is a member of IEEE. In addition, she serves as the Head of the Lab Committee in the Department of Information Science and Technology.

Gremina Elmazi

Dr. Gremina Elmazi is an assistant professor in the Department of Architectural Engineering at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a Ph.D. in Architecture Design Issues from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (Turkey), an M.S. in Architecture from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University (North Macedonia), and a B.Sc. in Architecture from the State University of Tetovo. Her academic interests include architectural design education, sustainable architecture, and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Prior to joining AUM, she held academic positions at International VISION University and the State University of Tetovo and worked as an architect and consultant for several firms in North Macedonia. Dr. Elmazi integrates academic research with professional practice, supporting students in both design thinking and technical proficiency. Additionally, Dr. Gremina currently serves as the coordinator of graduation projects in the Architectural Engineering department.

Gulsah Basgurboga

Dr. Gulsah K. Basgurboga is an assistant professor in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a PhD and MA in Educational Sciences and a BA in Translation and Interpreting Studies from Bogazici University, Istanbul. She has held academic roles at Fenerbahce University and Istanbul Sehir University, where she also served as Head of the Department of Foreign Languages. Her research interests include language teaching, higher education, student wellbeing, and informal adult learning. Her work has been published in respected journals such as Adult Education Quarterly and the Journal of Higher Education and Science. She holds DELTA and ICELT certifications and is active in professional associations and conferences.

Haitham Ghanem

Dr. Haitham Ghanem is an assistant professor of Electrical Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He specializes in the design and characterization of RF integrated circuits. Dr. Ghanem holds a B.S. in Electronics and a master’s degree in audiovisual engineering from the Lebanese University (Lebanon), as well as a master’s degree in wireless integrated circuits and systems from the University of Grenoble Alpes (France). He earned his Ph.D. in Electronics, Microelectronics, and Microwaves from the University of Lille (France), where he also completed postdoctoral research. In addition to his academic background, Dr. Ghanem has over five years of industry experience with leading semiconductor companies, including STMicroelectronics and NXP Semiconductors in France. His research interests focus on the development, design, and characterization of RF circuits for high-frequency applications. He has published his work in Scopus-indexed journals and actively serves as a reviewer for various journals, conferences, and academic publications.

Hakan Tozan

Hakan Tozan, senior academic and researcher currently serving in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He previously held the position of head of the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Medipol University, where he also established and directed the Healthcare Systems Engineering M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, as well as the Healthcare Modeling and Simulation Research Group. His research portfolio encompasses operations research, healthcare systems optimization, decision analytics, and complex system modeling, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary applications. Dr. Tozan actively contributed to national health policy through his advisory role on projects for the Health Technology Assessment Department of the Turkish Ministry of Health. Earlier in his career, during his tenure at the Turkish Naval Academy, he led several academic units, including serving as head of the Industrial Engineering Department, director of the Military Operations Research and Naval Logistics Programs, and director of the Naval Sciences and Engineering Institute, the graduate school of the Turkish Naval Academy.

Halil Turan

Halil Turan is a senior laboratory instructor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Turkey, and an M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in communications and networking from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C., USA.

Prior to joining AUM in 2017, Turan worked in the telecommunications industry as a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer. His current academic role focuses on supporting hands-on laboratory instruction in electrical engineering. His research interests include machine learning applications in diagnosis and prognosis, generative AI, time-series prediction, and harmonic radar technologies.

Hamdi Chaouk

Hamdi Chaouk is a senior laboratory instructor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia. His areas of expertise include process simulation, mechanical design of process equipment, and water treatment technologies.

Hamzeh Kassan

Hamzeh Kassan is a laboratory instructor in computer engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, specializing in electronic and digital technologies.

He holds two engineering degrees from the Polytechnic School of Nantes University in France and the Lebanese University. His master’s studies focused on hardware/software co-design, covering both simulation and implementation aspects.

He also completed a training program in IC Design with Synopsys in Lebanon and undertook two internships in France during his master’s degree: the first with Deloitte in industrial cybersecurity, and the second with Atlas Copco in embedded firmware development.

He teaches undergraduate courses related to electronics and computer engineering.

Hande Ulus

Dr. Hande Ulus is a dietitian and U.S.-trained nutrition scientist with a Ph.D. in Nutrition Science and Biotechnology. She currently serves as an assistant professor at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, where she contributes to advancing evidence-based education. Her academic expertise spans clinical nutrition, maternal and child health, food science, and public health nutrition. Dr. Ulus integrates critical thinking, applied research, and digital learning strategies into her teaching, fostering student engagement and professional readiness. She is also a candidate for the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) credential, reflecting her dedication to maternal and infant nutrition. Her research interests include dietary behavior, nutrition communication, and sustainable food systems.

Hanen Shall

Dr. Hanen Shall is an assistant professor of electrical engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait.

She holds a Ph.D. in Electronics from the University of Rouen, France, and was honored with the Normandie Aerospace (NAE) Research Excellence Award for her innovative research project MIRAGE (3D Modeling of Electromagnetic Radiation), which was recognized as part of the 2013 Research Technology Innovation Award.

Dr. Shall’s research focuses on RF communication systems, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), EM simulation, shielding, antenna and frequency selective surface (FSS) design, backscatter communication, RFID, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and next-generation (NR) communication technologies.

She has led and contributed to international research projects in collaboration with academic institutions such as IMEP-LaHC, AMPERE-France, and TU Chemnitz-Germany, as well as with leading industry partners including AIRBUS, THALES, SIEMENS, RENAULT, and VALEO.

Dr. Shall has actively served on Electrical Engineering program accreditation, research, and innovation committees and has supervised numerous student professional and research projects in emerging technologies. Her academic contributions include over 20 publications and a co-authored book on EMC.
