Dr. Eddie Hanna is an associate professor of mechanical engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France. His research spans materials science with a focus on composite material manufacturing, machine learning for material behavior prediction, and optimization in mechanical design. Dr. Hanna is also engaged in the design and analysis of planar mechanisms for robotics and industrial applications. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and collaborates on interdisciplinary research. In addition to research, he is committed to mentoring students and promoting applied engineering education through project-based learning.

Eduarda Sousa-Sa

Dr. Eduarda Sousa-Sa serves as an assistant professor in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a Ph.D. in Physical Activity and Public Health from the University of Wollongong, Australia, a master’s in teaching physical education from the University of Minho, and a bachelor’s in sports sciences from the University of the Porto. Her research focuses on 24-hour movement behaviors—physical activity, sedentary behavior, and sleep—and their influence on cardiovascular health and cognitive development in youth. She collaborate with research centers including CIAFEL, ITR, CIDEFES, the Institute of Education (Minho University), and Early Start (Wollongong), and contribute(d) to multidisciplinary teams and international projects such as DE-PASS, MOVE24, Moving the Next Generation, the Portuguese and Australian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines, the Sunrise Study, and the SBRN Terminology Consensus Project. Her work supports evidence-based public health interventions for children and adolescents.

Elda Cina

Dr. Elda Cina is an associate professor in the Department of Information Systems and Technology at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from the University of Tirana, where her research focused on image compression and data security. She earned her M.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Tirana. Dr. Cina's research spans computer networks, data compression and security, machine learning, fog and cloud computing and (IoT). Her work has been published in high-impact journals such as Applied Sciences, IEEE Access, and Electronics. She actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for several journals including those published by MDPI, IEEE transactions on AgriFood Electronics, and AETIC.

Eldhose Iype

Dr. Eldhose Iype is an associate professor of chemical engineering at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds a PhD from TU Eindhoven, Netherlands, with research expertise in computational chemistry, organocatalysis, and machine learning. He coordinates the Green Energy Club, leads the Chem-E-Car project, and chairs the Learning and Development Committee. His research focuses on simulation-based materials and molecular discovery.

He is committed to mentoring students through interdisciplinary research and sustainability-driven innovation.

Emad Mabrouk

Dr. Emad Mabrouk is an assistant professor in the Mathematics Department at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He earned his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Kyoto University, Japan, in 2011. Dr. Mabrouk’s research expertise includes meta-heuristics, machine learning, and applied AI with over 25 indexed publications. He has supervised more than 20 undergraduate, Master’s, and Ph.D. students. His recent work focuses on machine learning techniques for flood susceptibility forecasting and hazard mapping, and he participates in interdisciplinary projects involving renewable energy.

Eman Olayan

Senior Laboratory Instructor

Eman Olayan is a Senior Laboratory Instructor and Lab Coordinator in the Department of Chemistry at AUM. She holds a Master’s degree in Molecular Biology from the Lebanese American University and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from the University of Balamand. With over 15 years of academic and research experience, she oversees laboratory operations, ensures safety compliance, and supports instruction in chemistry and biology courses. Prior to joining AUM, she served as a Research Scientist at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), contributing to national projects in nutrition, food safety, and public health. Her research interests include dietary assessment, childhood obesity, microbiological analysis, and molecular genotyping methodologies. She is a co-author of several peer-reviewed publications and holds the NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Emil Obeid

Dr. Emil Obeid is an associate professor of chemistry at the College of Engineering and Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He brings over 15 years of comprehensive teaching experience in chemistry and physical chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Throughout his academic career, he has taught a wide range of courses related to chemistry, physical chemistry, and chemical engineering. Dr. Obeid is committed to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment by continuously updating his teaching materials and adopting innovative pedagogical techniques.

His research expertise aligns with major global challenges, particularly focusing on SDGs 6, 7 and 13, where he is dedicated to advancing clean energy solutions, reducing environmental pollution, water desalination and wastewater treatment. His extensive research portfolio includes Heterogeneous Catalysis, Electrocatalysis and kinetic studies. Dr. Obeid has developed a comprehensive skill set in Computational Chemistry, applying Quantum and Molecular Dynamics Simulations as well as Machine Learning techniques in his field of expertise.

Emira Limani

Dr. Emira Limani is an associate professor of marketing and chair of the Marketing Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration – Marketing and an M.A. in Communication Studies from Ball State University, USA. With over 15 years of teaching and leadership experience, Dr. Limani is passionate about advancing academic excellence through curriculum development, experiential learning, and international accreditation standards, particularly AACSB. Her areas of expertise include place branding, nation branding, and digital marketing education. She actively mentors students in high-level competitions like L’Oréal Brandstorm and integrates practical tools such as the Marketplace Simulation into academic programs. Dr. Limani’s research is published in several Scopus-indexed journals, and she is a certified trainer, competition judge, and speaker on sustainability and skills development. She is also a committed member of EMAC, IPBA, and the Institute of Place Management.

Emrah Tasdemir

Dr. Emrah Tasdemir is an assistant professor of civil engineering at the College of Engineering & Technology, American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait. He holds Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Structural Earthquake Engineering from North Carolina State University. His expertise lies in developing seismic-resistant structures and enhancing seismic resilience in communities by applying smart and advanced materials to improve structural behaviour during earthquakes.

He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on topics such as carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) anchors, repair techniques for seismically damaged bridge columns, and the integration of super elastic materials into seismic retrofitting methods.

Dr. Tasdemir actively collaborates with international research teams, including colleagues at the University of California, Los Angeles, as well as several universities in Ecuador, including Universidad Central del Ecuador, Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas – ESPE, and the National Polytechnic School. In addition to his research, he contributes to the field as a technical committee member for an international engineering conference, helping to advance innovation and knowledge exchange in structural earthquake engineering committee .

Emsal Azdemir

Dr. Emsal Ates Ozdemir is a faculty member in the Liberal Arts Department at the American University of the Middle East (AUM), Kuwait, where she also serves as head of the Writing Center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Hacettepe University, a Master of Arts from the Department of English Language Teaching at Mersin University, and a Ph.D. in English Language Teaching from Çukurova University, with a research focus on the integration of educational technology in ELT. She has over 27 years of experience as an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor at the university level. Her academic interests include the integration of technology into English language instruction, the teaching of academic writing, teacher education, and the application of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning environments. Her work reflects a commitment to innovative pedagogical practices and the advancement of effective teaching methodologies in higher education.
